Is Egypt and the Red Sea safe for kitesurfing and tourism in 2024 amid the Israeli-Hamas conflict?

As kitesurfers from around the world begin booking their kite safaris with us for the 2024 season, some of our guests have expressed concerns about the safety of Egypt and the Red Sea region given the ongoing Israeli-Hamas conflict and what is our refund/cancelation policy specifically regarding the conflict.

With those concerns in mind, we have written this blog post to detail the current situation on the Red Sea and our reservation cancellation policy.

It's essential to emphasize that the Red Sea remains a tranquil haven for kitesurfing, travel, and tourism, untouched by the conflicts happening in Gaza. There is no indication that the Israeli-Hamas conflict has or will directly affect the Red Sea's safety or tourism. The Red Sea is a vast expanse, and the areas associated with the Israeli-Hamas conflict are situated more than 800 kilometers to the north.

Egypt has consistently demonstrated its commitment to preserving its tourism industry's well-being, recognizing the vital role it plays in the nation's economy. As a result, the government goes to great lengths to steadfastly secure its cities, historical sites, and the Red Sea from any spillover of geopolitical conflicts taking place in the Middle East. Additionally, the Red Sea and the Suez Canal are of global significance for cargo ships that transport billions of Euros worth of product through the area each day, making it imperative for international stakeholders to maintain peace and security throughout the region.

In short, our guests can have confidence that their Red Sea kite safari with us will not be interrupted by the Israeli-Hamas conflict. However, just as with COVID, we have a clear and fair policy in regards to situations of potential cancellations:

If Egypt, during the month prior to your kite safari with us, institutes border closures that prohibit entry or restrict tourist visas in response to the Israeli-Hamas conflict, the kite safari will be cancelled and your payments will be returned in full, immediately—guaranteed.

This is the same policy we had during the uncertainty of the 2020 and 2021 COVID years.

Questions? Concerns? Please send us a message and we will get right back to you. Thank you so much to all of our past and future guests for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you to the Red Sea in 2024!
